Tenderness ~ letting the other inside your skin

a gift for our world

True, the 'sword' gets the headlines, yet we need not underestimate the kindness and graciousness shown among humans on a daily basis, mostly in acts small but, nevertheless, of significance for all beings.

One small candle flame
lights-up the darkness.
Our every feeling and act of kindness
transforms the world, in a small, but real, way.
Nothing, nothing, I mean nothing,
can undo the eternal meaning
of even one moment of tender-feeling
for any one creature or for all.

So, I do not see this tenderness felt and expressed on that trail as mine. This was not a happening I can say, strictly, I had or belongs to me. I was part of the happening. I cannot own it, at all, any more than other like moments in my life. I was, rather, blessed to share in it. This is a natural, universal heart condition, so to speak, that is the natural way of feeling and living among us.

So, if a 58 year-old man weeping on a trail, feeling like a child again, that sense of innocence given back, is weak, I prefer that weakness. If that appears foolish, I am glad to be, in that tenderness, appearing foolish. Tenderness is wise and powerful, our true estate of being together, heart-with-heart.

And, so, where does this tenderness revolution begin to transform all life, our world? Possibly, with the person, the animal, the plant, ... in front of you, whatever the now, wherever you are. Is that true? Will you let it happen? Will you keep remembering, keep returning, here in~Love-childlike?
